Intercub

December 1st, 2011

This Sunday, the team are going in an MMA inter-club in Poole. John Orchard Training has been working with MMA British champion Scott Pooley on wrestling and jujitsu in the Bournemouth based gym, the Bulldog. Training has gone very well for the whole team and everybody is looking forward to the MMA event at the Gladiator Academy. I will post details of how the event goes real soon, for pictures of the event please follow on Facebook and Twitter

White collar boxer Marco Valvo lost a close points decision on Saturday, the Bournemouth fighter was rushed and held by his experienced opponent and couldn’t get his shots off in time. It was a learning experience for the 30 year old boxer, and he will be back in action in the new year

November 25th, 2011

Long time since last post but many things have happened,

The new website is up and running, please take your time and have a look around. Got lots of boxing/kickboxing videos to have a look at for inspiration in your training, also the new John Orchard Training Facebook page is up and running, will be doing discounts, training tips and up, go onto the page and press ‘like’ and they will come up on your Facebook.

Great boxing and kickboxing show in Bournemouth back in September, please go on the bulldog website for full results. The highlight for me was Marco Valvo’s debut in the White collar boxing. He is boxing again this Saturday.

I have now taken over the MMA class at the Bulldog Gym with current British champion Scott Pooley, classes are going from strength to strength, with Scott, an excellent wrestler and Jiu Jitsu practitioner, and me taking the stand up we are expecting big things in the future. Please feel free to come along and have a go, MMA beginner classes are on Wednesdays at 18:15.

John orchard training seminars are getting even more popular, with another one done in Hastings, and more waiting to be confirmed, watch this space for the next date.

With the new year fast approaching, there will be intro offers in boxing/kickboxing and MMA training to help get you started in the coming months. Please feel free to get in touch and see what packages would benefit you.

That’s about all at the moment guys, till next time, remember “train hard, fight easy”.

120ft charity abseil success!

April 19th, 2010

Well done to our very own kickboxing instructor Joss Agne for her second 120ft abseil from the water tower at Mannings Heath in Poole! She was happy to throw herself off the tower for the Mayor Of Poole’s charities.

Look out for her next radical venture in July, where she and Clara Norman of the Bulldog Team will be attempting the Tough Guy in Wolverhampton!

Does this girl ever keep still???

“Demolition” night at Absolute Adrenaline 11/04/10

April 15th, 2010

Hello All,

Firstly, can I send a BIG THANK YOU to all those who attended Absolute Adrenaline – Demolition at the O2 Academy in Bournemouth on Sunday 11 April! It was a great turnout, especially to see so many supporters, friends, students and non-students present. I’m sure you all thought the show was highly entertaining and found it encouraging to get back into training!

I’m sure you can all say that the JOT students done their best efforts on the night and I hope those who walked away with a loss will learn from the experience. However, I am proud of all those who fought and hope they enjoy their time off from training.

A round up of the results; Pro Kickboxer Scott Rowley, won the IKF British Title against Aaron Robinson (Lincoln) with a spectacular 6th round KO; last-minute step in Alex Davis (WRSA) beat James Cornick on a majority decision, John Whittam won the Southern Area Title against James Penny (TS Kickboxing Stevenage) with a referee stoppage in the 3rd round, Rob Ellick (All Or Nothing, Bridgwater) beat Rikki Beale on a unanimous points decision for the Southern Area Title, Dean Alexander (Team Bulldog) beat Mads Valencia (Norway) also Jefferson George beat Dave Giles (Team Bulldog), Shaun King beat Ben Grant (Salisbury) all with the same unanimous points decision, White Collar Boxer Craig Jones lost with majority points going to his Norwegian counterpart Rodrigues Nyzoyibuka.

Hopefully, after all these great fights, you managed to stay to the end and watch my win against a very strong, very clever Odje Manda from France. Manda was a great adversary for me, quick and strong, however after the 2nd round, I sussed out his movements and went on to beating him on a unanimous points decision. I hope the French team enjoyed there visit to Absolute Adrenaline.

Well, so thats a quick round up of the night…Keep an eye on the site for my return into the “Lions Den” towards in the end of the year, in the meantime, see you at the gym!

Count down to the main event – Absolute Adrenaline 11/04/10

April 7th, 2010

It’s a matter of days away and the JOT fighters are ’simmering down’ and conserving their energy for the main event at Absolute Adrenaline this Sunday. All fighters were very focussed and still training hard throughout the holidays.

The Easter weekend held another fighting event, where JOT travelled to the MEN in Manchester to watch the David Haye Vs John Ruiz boxing match. The atmosphere in the MEN was phenomenal and there were some excellent bouts in one night; the likes of George Groves, Carl Dilks Vs Carl Drake, to name a few. Its safe to say that after the weekend of boxing and training, John Orchard is now fired up and ready to meet his opponent this Sunday at Absolute Adrenaline!

If you havent got your tickets already – be quick, it will be a spectacular night for JOT and the Bulldog Gym fighters! We wish Good Luck to everyone fighting!
